Church SecretaryEmail Melanie
My name is Melanie Schroder and have been the Church Secretary since August 1, 2017. While I am not a Texas native, we have recently planted our roots here in Howe. I was born and raised in Illinois about an hour southwest of Chicago in the town of Morris, it was home for me for 24 years. On May 14, 2002 I married my high school sweetheart, Brett. With my husband’s prior military service we’ve led a pretty adventurous life so far by living in six different states (Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, Delaware, & Texas) as well as four years in Germany. I have four kids, each born in a different state. Colvin was born in my hometown in Illinois in 2004. Cailey was born in Georgia in 2009. Molly was born in Wittlich, Germany in 2012. Luke was born in Delaware in 2013. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home with my kids for the past 9 years. The timing was perfect for the secretary position opening and I knew it was just right for me, and here I am. My hobbies include travel (which sadly has declined in recent years), and also sewing. I would consider myself a novice and I have a lot to learn, I am intimidated by patterns and my approach is more of a “just winging it” style. Haha! Someday I hope to expand on my sewing skills and learn to quilt.
